PRECICE vs FITBONE: Comparing Two Internal Lengthening Nails

PRECICE and FITBONE are both fully internal nails, so there is no external frame. The difference is the drive:
• PRECICE: magnetic, lengthened with a handheld remote controller.
• FITBONE: motorised, powered through a small receiver placed under the skin and a transmitter that the patient places over it.
Both lengthen about 1 mm a day. At Lengthening Turkey, FITBONE costs $50,000 and PRECICE 2.2 costs $56,000 (hotel excluded).

Is FITBONE safer than PRECICE?
Both are established internal systems with similar overall safety. Neither has an external frame, so neither has pin-site infections.
Which is more comfortable?
Comfort is very similar. Some patients prefer the PRECICE remote controller because nothing sits under the skin. Others prefer FITBONE's simple daily routine.
Can FITBONE be used for the tibia?
Yes. We use FITBONE in the tibia as well as the femur.
How long is recovery?
Lengthening takes about 1 day per mm. Consolidation, when the new bone hardens, usually takes 2 to 3 times longer than the lengthening phase.
What about STRYDE?
We do not offer the STRYDE nail. It was withdrawn from production in 2020.
