Limb Lengthening for Women
Short answer
Women can have the same methods as men: LON, PRECICE and FITBONE. Because of smaller bone size, nail choice and target height are planned carefully to keep natural proportions. Most women gain 5 to 8 cm; the usual limits are up to 8 cm in the femur and up to 6 cm in the tibia.
Natural proportions and leg shape
The surgeon measures your thigh-to-shin ratio and overall proportions, and plans the target so that the result looks natural.
Nail size
Nail size is chosen according to the width of the bone canal. Thinner nails are used where needed.
Scars
Scars are small, a few short incisions per bone, and fade over 12 to 18 months. See Limb lengthening scars.
Pregnancy after lengthening
We recommend waiting at least 1 year after lengthening before pregnancy, because strong medication is used during treatment.
Your stay in Istanbul
Most patients stay about 3 months in Istanbul for surgery, the lengthening phase and early physiotherapy. See Staying in Istanbul during limb lengthening.
