Limb Lengthening Scars
Short answer
Internal nails leave a few small incisions, usually 1 to 3 cm each. LON adds small pin-site scars from the frame. Scars fade over 12 to 18 months; silicone gel and sun protection help.
What scars to expect
• Internal nails: with PRECICE or FITBONE, a few small incisions near the knee or hip and along the bone, usually 1 to 3 cm each.
• LON: with LON, the same small incisions plus pin-site marks from the frame. Pin-site scars are small round marks.
How scars change
Scars are red at first and fade over 12 to 18 months. Most become thin and pale.
